The 250k Squat Bar

Plating: Zinc

The 250k Squat Bar SHIPS IN: 1-2 WEEKS

The 250k Squat Bar is a purpose-built, heavy duty competition barbell designed for big squats. Coming in at 25kg and beefy 31.75mm diameter with a significant 8” length advantage over straight bars, the 250k Squat Bar has handled some of the heaviest RAW and geared squats in powerlifting history.

Featuring an unmatched tensile strength and hardness of 250k PSI and 51 rockwell respectively,  the 250k Squat Bar achieves these incredible numbers through a proprietary metallurgical heat treat process that results in a long lasting bar you can hand down for generations. Our unique knurl design is lauded as one of the “stickiest” bar-to-human interfaces without cutting the lifter's hands.  The “Kabuki Feel” as, as it’s commonly referred to, is the result of a unique combination of innovations in material selection, proprietary manufacturing processes, and our comprehensive practical and theoretical experience in barbell design.

THE OFFICIAL BAR OF ELITE STRENGTH ORGANIZATIONS

The 250k Squat Bar

What is it about our new generation bars that sets them apart? A comprehensive testing and methodology was used throughout the entire product development process for our new generation bars. Materials selection involved testing to determine the optimal steel alloy to use. Lots of testing was performed on the hardening process and figuring out a way to create the hardest bar while still allowing for whip and preventing the bar from snapping. The knurl took us many many revisions to figure out until we all agreed on the production version of the knurl – widely considered to be the best knurl in the industry. Overall this bar has been tested and retested many times with every feature and specification in mind.

With a tensile strength of over 250k PSI and a Rockwell hardness of 51 RC, this bar is harder than any other bar currently on market. What this means in practical terms is that the knurl won’t wear down over the years, leaving you with a bar that is performing sub par, compared to when it was new. Even where the bar contacts the rack it will maintain that fine, tacky, aggressive knurl, just like the day it was unboxed.

The 250k Squat Bar is fully knurled with a convenient center marking and standard powerlifting markings on either side. The full knurl design ensures the bar stays locked-in on your back during high volume and intensity squat sessions, gripping even without the use of chalk.

The attention to detail, material selection, construction quality, and performance of this bar place it in a class of its own, something we can say about all Kabuki barbells and products. We are passionate about doing things right, putting our customers first, and taking the time to craft something beautiful that we can all be proud of. Bars come with our beloved and unique stamped end-cap design that features the Kabuki Squat Face iconography as well as the weight of the bar and its country of origin (USA).

We manufacture our New Generation bars using American steel by state-of-the-art machines, and hand-assembled in Portland, Oregon by passionate machinists and technicians. We design and manufacture these bars to function for life - bars you can proudly hand down to your children, and them to their children - making the world a better place through strength, generation after generation.

Frequently Asked Questions

A traditional competition power bar is 29mm in diameter and weights 20kg, with specific length and dimensional tolerances. The squat bar is a lift-specific competition barbell for the Squat event. It’s diameter is generally thicker (in our case 31.75mm) and weights more than a standard power bar. Our 250k Squat Bar weights 25 kilograms. Additionally, the squat bar features a fully knurled center shaft with powerlifting and center markings.

A bar’s metallurgical properties are the primary determining factors in the mechanical properties of the bar, or in more practical terms, how the bar behaves in the lifter hands against gravity and the force generated. The yield strength of the metal determines how much stress it can take before permanent deformation, while the tensile strength measures its breaking, or fracture point. The softer, or lower strength a bar is - the more it bends under load. The harder, or higher yield/tensile strength a bar is - the less it bends under load. Each of these options varies the feel or oscillation of a bar under load, and the art of bar design comes in determining the fine dance between the bars properties and how it behaves under load, against gravity. One downside of higher tensile strength is brittleness, or catastrophic failure (not bending, but cracking under tension).

The 250k Squat Bar comes in 2 standard metallic finishes and different seasonal cerakote finishes.

Black Oxide:This low-cost option is a conversion coating for ferrous materials, stainless steel, copper and copper based alloys, zinc, powdered metals, and silver solder. It is used to add mild corrosion resistance, for appearance and to minimize light reflection. We particularly like the gunmetal black finish it gives to the bar. It just looks badass in our opinion!

Zinc:The least expensive plating option, zinc is shiny and bright on arrival with a hue that varies from bluish to brownish. As the bar is used this coating will develop a dull, gunmetal grey patina. This default option is a very durable and corrosion-resistant plating choice commonly found on many barbells.

Cerakote: Cerakote is a ceramic based coating, originally used in the firearms industry for its excellent corrosion resistance and wear characteristics without excessive coating buildup. Cerakote is known for being a highly protective finish that stands up to the elements well. When cleaning chalk from the knurl on a cerakote bar, be sure to use a stiff nylon bristle brush, not a wire-bristled brush.

Yes, the 250k Squat Bar meets the competition specifications for powerlifting federations that allow the use of a squat-specific barbell - like the IPL/USPA, WRPF, SPF, APA, and others. Only metallic finishes like Zinc or Black Oxide can be used on the competition platform.
