Last week I started using gear again.  This week I continued with briefs for squats but also added briefs for deadlift and a bench shirt while increasing the weights I am handling to get my mind and body ready to handle big weights.  On the road in Houston (Tue/Wed) as usual, I did some raw dynamic work but back into gear once I got back to the Lab in Portland.  For Bench I used a shirt one size bigger than what I use for competition, briefs for deadlifts and for squat I used briefs and knee wraps.  All in preparation for WPA Worlds, just 7 weeks out.


Tuesday dynamic bench – focus on speed

BarX20, 95X15, 135X10W, 135X10N, 185X5W, 185X5N, 225X5X3N, 135X10W, 135X10N

Volume: 9,500 lbs. or about 23X

Accessory work: triceps push down V-bar, EZ Curls, Lateral and Front shoulder raise


Wednesday dynamic squat

135X5, 225X5, 275X5, 315X3X3, 225X10, 135X10

Volume: 9,610 or 18X

Accessory work: leg extension, leg curl, back attack


Friday – bench, shirted size 52 Rage-X 2 ply*

135X5, 185X5, 225X4, 275X3, 315X2, 405X2* 1 board, 455X1 touch, 475X1 touch

Volume: 5,290 or around 13X


Saturday – squat & deadlift

Squat: 150X5, 240X5, 330X3, 420X2, 510X1*, 560X1, 600X1

*Metal Ace briefs

Volume: 5,450 or around 10X

Accessory work reverse hypers


Deadlift: 135X5N, 135X5W, 225X3N, 225X3W, 315X3, 405X3, 455X3, 505X5

Volume: 8,750 or around 15X


Bench feels very strong and happy with speed.  Squats went well and the weight moved easily with no knee pain but I felt tired.  Deadlifts were smooth but still need a little more patience at the start. Good set up position nut need to get the slack out before big pull.  Will continue to jack the weight up next week as I am now in the final 6 weeks of preparation for WPA Worlds.
